The U.S. Navy John C. Stennis Strike Group (JCSSG) is conducting routine operations in the West Philippine Sea. The warships traversed the Luzon Strait on March 1 and have maintained a location in the eastern half of these international waters for four days.

The strike group consist of a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered supercarrier, two guided missile destroyer and one guided-missile cruiser.

The JCSSG, dubbed as the Great Green Fleet is on a regularly scheduled deployment to 7th Fleet. On March 4, several fighter jets launches from USS John C. Stennis’ (CVN 74) flight deck for routine flight operations.

Flight operations have occurred daily with Carrier Airwing (CVW) 9 conducting 266 sorties. The air wing is attached to the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) which is the flagship of Carrier Strike Group Three.
