In an interview on television boxing champ and senatorial candidate Manny Pacquiao said that gays and lesbians are worst than animals.
Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao is now receiving strong criticism after his remarks on the LGBT community, comparing them to animals.
“Ginawa ang babae para sa lalaki, ginawa ang lalaki para sa babae (Woman was made for man, man was made for woman),” he said.
“Common sense lang. Makakakita ka ba ng any animals na lalaki sa lalakI, babae sa babae? Mas mabuti pa yung hayop. Marunong kumilala kung lalaki, lalaki, o babae, babae,” Pacquiao said.
“Kung lalaki sa lalaki, babae sa babae, eh mas masahol pa sa hayop ang tao,” he added.
(It’s only common sense. Would you see any species of animals who engage in male to male, female to female sexual relations? Animals, then, are better than humans. They know how to distinguish males from females.)
(If people then engage in male to male, female to female relations, then they are worse than animals.)
However according to experts, homosexuality is very common in the animal world.
Celebrities criticized Pacquiao and expressed their disappointments on social media.
In a series of tweets, Jose Marie Viceral also known as Vice Ganda turned the tables against the boxing champ, saying that adultery is also a sin.
Ang pagpatol sa parehong kasarian ay masahol pa sa hayup? E ang pakikiapid habang ika’y may asawa anung kababuyan ito? Pakisagot Manny!

(To engage in sexual relations with the same gender is worse than animals? Then what do you call sleeping with other women while you’re still married? Please answer, Manny!)
He even criticized Manny’s ability as a politician.
“Ang kailangan sa Senado ay mga bihasa sa pulitika, sa batas, sa ekonomiya. Hindi mga bulaang propeta.”
(What we need in the Senate are those who are experienced in politics, law, and economics—not false prophets.)
Vice Ganda isn’t the only one who called out Pacquiao for his controversial remark.
Aiza Seguerra who is married to Liza Diño took her disappointment on Instagram.
“You might’ve done our country proud but with your statement, you just showed the whole country why we shouldn’t vote for you.
“And yes, I think you are an ignorant, bigoted hypocrite.
“You made me lose all respect that I had for you, Mr Pacquiao,” Aiza said.
This isn’t the first time the people’s champ was slammed because of his views on same-sex marriage.
On 2012 Pacquiao cited his religious beliefs by allegedly citing Leviticus 20:13 “If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”
Pacquiao is also quoted as saying that “God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married.”
However, he denied the claims and said that he doesn’t even read Leviticus yet and he does not believe that gay people should be “put to death,” as had been reported by several media outlets.
“I didn’t say that, that’s a lie. I didn’t know that quote from Leviticus because I haven’t read the Book of Leviticus yet. I’m not against gay people. I have a relative who is also gay. We can’t help it if they were born that way,” Pacquiao said.
“What I’m critical off are actions that violate the word of God. I only gave out my opinion that same sex marriage is against the law of God.” he added. -Ram Arciga
